Gun Forum Community Rallies Around Ailing Member, Raises Over $45,000 in 48 Hours

The civilian disarmament movement often likes to portray our side as a bunch of knuckle-dragging neanderthals who love the idea of death and destruction and don’t give a damn about anyone else. If you’re familiar with ar15.com, specifically GD, you might understand that impression. But right now there’s something pretty awesome going on. At about 5 a.m. Monday morning, an arfcom member reached out for support, not monetary but emotional, in a thread titled “I’m Dying.” He’s got Stage IV Burkitt’s Lymphoma. He talks of his 8 year old son, and how he’s got a brand-new Chipmunk rifle ready to go, but “dad just needs to get better.” He asks, “Will somebody teach him when I’m gone?” As the thread went on, one guy offered to take care of his mortgage for the rest of the year. Several members of arfcom visited him in the hospital before the day was out. That afternoon, someone set up a fund to help him cover the impending rollover of his $15,000 insurance deductible. At 5 p.m. that day they had about $600. As of this writing, about 48 hours later, they have nearly $44,000, including one guy who donated $8787 for college expenses. I’m not telling you to donate, just suggesting you go look.

The Fall of Rome and Modern Parallels | Lawrence Reed at FreedomFest

If you have 17 minutes to spare this is an excellent, quick description of the Fall of Rome. The speaker need not even draw the parallels to modern society, it will be so obvious, you will do it on your own.

Bad character leads to bad policy and bad economics, which is bad for liberty. Without character, a free society is just not unlikely, it’s impossible.

To avoid the fate of the dead and buried Roman Republic, what does America need today?

America needs more men and women who do not have a price at which they can be bought; who do not borrow from integrity for expediency; who have their priorities straight and in proper order; whose handshake is an iron-clad contract; who are not afraid of taking risks to advance what is right; who are honest in small matters as well as in large ones; who treat the rights and properties of others as they expect others should regard theirs.

Cognitive Dissonance: Shutdown Edition

Capture

I can’t help but notice the cognitive dissonance on display by our ‘conservative’ representatives in congress. They have almost unanimously come to the conclusion that Obamacare is horrible and a great expense on the American people. This expense is so unbearable that they will hold their ground and risk political fallout to stop this spending.

At the same time, the very bill they are passing funds an incalculable stampede of spending that should be at least as offensive as the spending associated with Obamacare. They have passed a bill now twice that funds the TSA and their searches, the NSA and their snooping, the Border Patrol and their internal checkpoints, the wealth transfers of Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Disability, SNAP, WIC, TANF, the DHS’s continued expansion as a federal police force, the drug war, Fannie and Freddie, Amtrak subsidies, the DOJ ‘race baiting’ Community Relations Services, and Foreign Aid to oppressive, violent dictators to buy public policy opinions. The list does not end.

Why does the GOP all of sudden have a backbone when it comes to this one thing? They have rolled over on everything and have been doing so they gained control of the house in 2010. In reality, for much, much longer than that.

Obama’s $1,000,000 ‘Special Gift’ to Iran

Obama gifted a nearly priceless artifact to Iran’s new president as a ‘special gift.’

Via TheBlaze:

The Obama administration last week gave Iranian President Hassan Rouhani a 2,700-year-old Persian artifact reportedly worth more than $1 million, according to various media reports.

The administration called it a “special gift” to the Iranians.

“The Americans contacted us on Thursday and said ‘we have a gift for you’,” Iran’s president told reporters after he returned Saturday from his trip to the United States, according to the ILNA news agency.

“They gave it back as a special gift to the Iranian nation,” he added.

So what did the Obama administration allegedly give Rouhani? A 7th century silver drinking cup in the shape of a winged griffin (head of an eagle, body of a lion).

It’s reportedly worth more than one million dollars, AFP reports.

Of course, we all remember how much our fearless leader valued our allies in England during his first term in office.

After [Prime Minister Gordon] Brown presented Obama with a pen holder crafted from the timbers of the 19th century British warship HMS President (whose sister ship, HMS Resolute, provided the wood for the Oval Office’s desk), Obama offered up … 25 DVDs of American movie classics.

And who can forget the Royal IPod?

So what do you get the queen who has everything?

If you’re President Obama – and the queen in question is Elizabeth II of England – you get her a generously loaded iPod that includes video footage of her 2007 visit to the U.S. and songs made popular on Broadway.

Oh The Audacity ! George Zimmerman Requests Reimbursement For Defense Expenses…. Orlando Sentinel Says His Acquittal Should Be Enough…

Florida state law REQUIRES that these expenses be paid by the state. This is a routine proceeding other than the bickering over some of the details. As the article states, not one dime is going to his defense council, and they yet to have received anything from George Zimmerman himself, as he has nothing. He signed his life away to O’Mara in order for him to be his counsel.

The continuation of making the man, who has been found not guilty of any crime into a monster racist kid killer is embarrassing. It says much about the moral standards of those perpetuating it and of our state as a failing nation. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Change happens at the individual level, until people return to moral and virtuous lives, we are doomed. When will those with higher standards carve out a piece of this land and make Liberty, Honor, and Self-Respect their credo?
