Liberty: There is No Greater Cause

“Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice; moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”

“Ask yourself: If (the Nairobi mall siege happened in) Texas”

“Ask yourself: If (the Nairobi mall siege happened in) Denver, Col., if that was Texas, would those guys have been able to spend hours, days, shooting people randomly? What I’m saying is it makes police around the world question their views on gun control. It makes citizens question their views on gun control. You have to ask yourself, ‘Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving threat of terrorism?’ This is something that has to be discussed.” – Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble

Pretty good when your convincing folks like these that haven’t been outside of the progressive circle for generations.

Judicial-Political Racketeering – Grisham Trial Edition

The recent trial resulting in a mistrial of Army Master Sergeant CJ Grisham has created a stir in many Texans and Americans connected to the gun rights movement, particularly those advocates of open carry or constitutional carry. The leadership and outspokenness of MSG Grisham has led to a growing open-carry movement in Central Texas, but a love for guns is just a piece of the puzzle on what motivates those young and old alike to involve themselves in this one man’s court case.

MSG CJ Grisham Speaks at the "Come and Take It San Antonio" Rally at the Alamo on Oct. 19, 2013. The event was organized by Open Carry Texas, of which Grisham is the President and founder.

Mr. Grisham may have been arrested while openly carrying an AR-15 rifle, it was the reason he was confronted by police that day. The firearm was also the basis of the charges against him at one point. But in the end, Mr. Grisham was only charged with interfering with the duties of a peace officer, hardly an offense to rally behind for the gun movement. You see, the one thing connecting all those following Grisham’s case closely and rallying in support behind him and his organization Open Carry Texas is not just a love of guns, it is a drive and a love of Liberty and Justice.

“With liberty and justice for all.”

Many of us recited those words everyday as children but didn’t learn what they meant until we were much older. CJ Grisham, given the vehicle of his unlawful arrest, has been leading a group of Texans in discovering the truth of those words as they follow him on his journey through the courts.

Trial for Veteran Illegally Disarmed Begins Today in Temple, TX.

Send @cjgrisham  some support today. His trial for exercising his rights as a free man starts this morning.

Below is a video of the incident that Sgt. Grisham took during the encounter.  The officer’s dashcam video is expected to be viewed in court and shows the interaction from the beginning. The court has placed a gag order on this dashcam video prior to trial.

When it is available, I will share it here.

STUPID DISCLAIMER: I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advice. If you think reading this on the internet somehow makes me responsible for you and/or your action; you’re wrong and an idiot.

A quick lesson in the legality of Black Powder Pistol/Handgun Open Carry in Texas for those unaware.

No. 1) Texas Penal Code 46.01(5) “Handgun” means any FIREARM that is designed, made, or adapted to be fired with one hand.

(B) a replica of an antique or curio firearm manufactured before 1899, but only if the replica does not use rim fire or center fire ammunition.

Without Government, Who Will Live in Antarctica?

Courtesy The Circle Bastiat:

NPR has been running a series of sad stories about various taxpayer-funded activities delayed by the non-shutdown. The other day I heard one about a dinosaur skeleton that was supposed to be shipped to the Smithsonian, but will now languish in a warehouse in Montana. I could barely contain my grief. Today was a feature on Antarctica, and how some scientific missions — all government funded, of course — may have to wait until Spring, because the ice is getting too thick, or something. One thing you will never, ever hear on NPR is a feature about a poor, beleaguered taxpayer who cannot maintain or improve his lot in life because his hard-earned funds are going to paleontologists or ice geologists. Nor will you hear about any potential harm to middle-class Americans from continued government borrowing and spending. NPR itself, of course, would not exist without taxpayer subsidy, but I’m sure that has nothing to do with it. In any case, I keep tuning in too late to hear the conflict-of-interest disclaimer that runs with such stories. Right?
